Iconic documentary filmmaker Ken Burns joins Rick and film critic Jan Wahl on the show to discuss his new 3-part PBS documentary “The U.S. and the Holocaust” which he created along with Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein.

Inspired in part by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s “Americans and the Holocaust” exhibition and supported by its historical resources, the film examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global antisemitism and racism, the eugenics movement in the United States, and race laws in the American South.

Ken discusses some lesser known stories/facts about both Europe and the US during the Holocaust, the timeliness of this series to modern issues, as well as how impactful creating this series was to him on a personal level.
